Learning to care for memory from an early age
Caring for cognitive health begins long before old age. This is why the NeuroTalent Games were created: an initiative by the Fundació Rosa Maria Vivar to raise awareness about the importance of stimulating memory at all stages of life.
The project turns memory into an educational and social experience, designed to involve students, teachers, and families in a necessary conversation about cognitive health.
How it works
A memory competition with an educational foundation
The first edition took place in 2022. Since then, the initiative has developed as a memory competition aimed at 1st-year ESO students (7th grade) in Catalonia.
The tests are designed to work on different brain response mechanisms related to memory, attention, concentration, logic, and reasoning.
Visual and auditory tests
Students participate in exercises such as relating image sequences, retaining words with no apparent connection, or solving auditory memory tests.
Attention and reasoning
The dynamics also stimulate motivation, the ability to concentrate, and reasoning, connecting learning and cognitive care through an active experience.
Educational participation
The project relies on the involvement of volunteers, teachers, and organizational teams that make its development possible in the participating centers.
Scope and scientific collaboration
Science, education, and community
NeuroTalent Games has the scientific advice of the Institut de Neurociències de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (INc-UAB), the collaboration of the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the “la Caixa” Foundation, and the advice of the Learning Disorders Unit of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.
According to current project data, more than 6,000 students and hundreds of educational centers participate annually, with an indirect impact on teachers and families.
Why it matters
Bringing cognitive health into the classroom
Talking about memory with young people is not about bringing forward a medical concern. It is about opening a positive conversation about learning, habits, and brain care.
NeuroTalent Games allows cognitive health to stop being a distant topic and become a shared experience between school, family, and society.
